North Lakeland Discovery Center Trail
Mountain Biking
If you want a quiet ride that brings you close to nature, check out the bike trails around the North Lakeland Discovery Center. This nature center is home to over 11 miles of trails, and you’ll find nearly every type of Northwoods natural habitat along the way. Be sure to check out the Big River Trail, which takes you along the banks of the mighty Manitowish River. These trails are groomed during the winter, providing some of the area’s best classical cross country skiing and snowshoeing. Benches are located throughout the trail system for resting or just taking in the serenity of the Center’s 66 acres. These trails are also the site of the annual “Just Tri-it Triathlon” in July, featuring a 300 yd swim, 10km mountain bike and 5km trail run. Located 1.2 miles east of Highway 51 on County Highway W.
