Paul O'Brien, Herb O'Brien, & Brian Gardner Radar Lake, Washington |
With more then 52 years of experience and responsible for more championship skis and shapes then any other designer in the industry stands the legendary godfather of modern ski design Herb O'Brien. The father/son team decided to depart from the company that Herb started over 24 years ago, HO/Hyperlite. Although they look back fondly on their years at HO/Hyperlite, the duo chose to part ways and give it a go on their own.
Brian Gardner, the former President of HO/Hyperlite, partnered with the O’Briens as they launch on Herb’s third watersports company, SquareOne, (O’Brien and HO/Hyperlite being the first two). Also joining the festivities from Hyperlite are Tim Dehate and John Geisler, who will be working in R&D, Blaze and Higgie, who will be heading up the art department, Bret Hagen, Mike Ferraro in board designs and shaper/boot developer Jason Standley.
Not enough can be said about Herb's committment to waterskiing. He began expermenting with skis at 12 years old in 1956. By 1964 he was making his own skis. Since then he has created more revolutions in towed sports then any other contributor. His designs have champions in slalom, trick, jump, and wakeboarding. He has changed the ways skis are built as well as the expectations we have on the quality of products. Herb continues to be the leader of new movements at Radar.
